Born this Way

This latest episode "Born this Way" is a tribute to Lady Gaga's newest single -Born this Way. This episode of GLEE was packed with strong themes such as self acceptance and overcoming self-loathing. This episode has the character Rachel, who in the beginning of the episode breaks her nose due to a performance accident and is later on told her nose is broken. The doctor then offers her the oppurtunity to get plastic surgery on her nose because he says that it's the perfect oppurtunity because she won't feel a thing and tells her there is a chance her voice can be improved after the surgery. But is she doing this for a "better" voice? now Rachel isn't the most attractive person in this series but no doubt her voice is amazing. Once she tells everyone in GLEE club about this everyone is shocked and no one agrees with her decision but she goes with it for now anyways (but she doesn't in the end) because she wants to be a more attractive person. Also in this episode Lauren finds out that Quinn Fabray had plastic surgery to look more attractive and uses her middle name to hide the fact that she was not satisfied with herself in the past, Also in this episode Kurt comes back to his original GLEE club after leaving the Warbolers. This episode was the most memorable episode not only because it was a 90 minute long episode but because it shows us that we should feel comfortable about ourselves despite what others say or think about you.

A Night of Neglect

The episode "A Night of Neglect" was about an episode neglecting the story and the various characters strengths and also had Rachel and Mercedes playing out the same rivalry they do in previous episodes. Also in this episode the GLEE club host a night of neglect preformance as a fundraiser to raise money for their tickets to nationals, but at the same time, Sue had created a Legion of Doom and at the show it appears that only their hecklers show and no one else had come. This message had some good messages, one of them is for all those hecklers out there who heap insults and abuse cowardly from a distance and most often over the internet, the stupid things that people say hurt real people inside and out. I think this episode relates to us and society because this specific episode reflects upon the large amount of bullying that happens in our community, do they do this to feel good about themselves? or simply just because it's fun to watch the victim suffer, who knows. And even though these things are happening and we are trying to put a stop to it by gathering students for non-bullying events, these things are still going on. All I know is this is a huge problem not only in schools but in our community and I think that we should do more to prevent this from happening.
